My almost 87 year old mother. who has always been in good health, except for occasional gout, became sick during the night with vomiting and diarrhea. She thought it may have been a crabcake she ate the day before, but she has no shellfish allergies and in fact, eats shrimp a lot. My concern is she says the vomit is black, dark colored. When I called her after work to see if she was better, she said yes, she felt okay, but was just drinking clear liquids for now. When she drank a half-glass of diet coke, it made her sick again, but she says she feels fine. I live across town from her and just am not sure if I should be taking her to the doctor tomorrow. She now feels like it was not the crab cake but a stomach virus. She is pretty much home bound and not really around anyone who would have brought a stomach virus into her home. My husband, her housekeeper and me are only ones who have been to her house in the last week and none of us were sick. Thanks for your input. Janet Yeager
