Suggest Treatment For Severe Toothache Post Root Canal Treatment

I had a root canal on Wednesday afternoon and when the Novocain wore off, the pain was incredible. Worse than before the procedure. I'm taking the prescriptions and it seems to be hit and miss in relieving the pain. My jaw and TMJ are sore and there is a lump under my jaw where the tooth is located. Ice irritates it, but heat feels better. Suggestion to help the pain disparate?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe toothache post root canal treatment which is because of presence of infection as it starts spreading in facial spaces and leads to facial space infection.

Need not to panic about anything. I would suggest you to take a combination of paracetamol and Azithromycin as it will give you relief. Maintain hygiene of oral cavity by brushing and flossing very gently. Do warm saline gargles three times a day. Your symptoms will resolve with in 1 week after proper suppression of infection. Do mouth stretching exercises and take soft diet. Visit oral and maxillofacial surgeon/endodontist once and start treatment after complete examination. Start treatment as per prescriptions.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
