Suggest Treatment For Severe Sore Throat And Cough Despite Medication
Honestly, I don t know, I m in so much pain in my throat. I ve had this since Thursday while we were in Disney world. Went to dr on Saturday, said I had strep throat, an upper respiratory infection and a fever. I am in so much pain, the only thing that works is tramadol, which I had left from a back injury. I m desperately trying to see my back doctor and probabably my PCp again as soon as I can stand to drive. I asked him to give me 30 to get me through. All he gave me was 875 mg of amoxicillin. From the cough, I m even in more pain. I ve never had a sore throat like this with a headache that won t stop pounding. I need a cough med so bad so I can sleep. Since all I can do is wait until morning to get a new prescription or additional medication, don t you think it s best to wait.

You are suffering from severe sore throat, pain in the throat, headache and you are also febrile. You are suggested to gargle your throat with warm water with a pinch of salt. Do it 2-3 times a day. Take liquid diet or semi solid diet so that you do not hurt your throat. Give voice rest, talk less. Take antihistamine, one stat at bed time to reduce soreness and cough.
Take sips of water, do not let your throat mucosa get dry. Dry throat triggers cough. You can keep cough lozenges in your mouth. Use a humidifier to stay comfortable. Take pain relieving medicines like Combiflam or Naproxen, one stat when needed after taking some food. You should get comfortable in a few hours but you are suggested to get clinically examined by your local doctor. Get swab & sputum tests done. Bacterial infection will need to be treated with a course of antibiotics (Augmentin). Stay away from addictions if any.
