My Mother will be 91 next month and has been diagnosed with two nodules on her thyroid. One is 6.4 cm on one side of the thyroid and the other is 2.4 cm on the other side of the thyroid. They are large enough to be felt and are pressing on her windpipe. She is using two prescribed inhalers twice a day. This is helping her breathing. She has been advised not to have biopsies or surgery to remove the thyroid. She has had pneumonia at least 6 times during her life beginning at 6 months old and as a result a lot of scar tissue is in her lungs. She also has severe sinus problems every day for several years already. It takes 3 - 4 hours to clear up the coughing and mucus every morning. She has no energy and has slowed down beginning last October. She had been doing daily volunteer work at the Church Thrift Store until that time. Are you in agreement with her doctor, that most likely, her heart or lungs will take her life and not the thyroid nodule problem?
