Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Back Of The Right Ear
Last week I had a bout of severe shooting pain in the back of my right ear (toward the bone at the base of my skull). The doctor ruled out an ear or throat infection but gave me antibiotics just the same because there was some redness in those areas. I took some anti-inflammatories and the shooting pain stopped. But it has now been replaced by a large area behind the ear that is very sore to touch. There are no leisions or bumps or swelling, but it is extremely sore to touch. What could this be?

Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Back Of The Right Ear
Hello, As per your history, it may be due to mastoiditis. For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen. Along with that you may require antibiotics in case of ear ache after ENT opinion. Take steam inhalation. Avoid ear piercing. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
