Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Back And Groin Area Post Lithotripsy

My husband had lithotripsy yesterday for a 3mm stone. He did not have a stent put in. He was sent home with flomax and pain meds. He has passed a few fragments through the strainer. He is now in severe pain from back to front along left side, pain in groin area, down to thighs. He is drinking water but not passing a lot of urine. Called his urologist and they said pain was due to passing fragments. How long does this last?? I certainly am worried

Hello,

Usually the pain of passing gravels settle down within next 24 to 48 hours and as there is stent inside, I do not predict much unbearable pain in your case.

If pain persists beyond further 24 hours, take him to urologist for need of x-ray KUB and check out whether there is no kinking of stent inside giving agony of pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
