Hello!

Thank you for your question on HCM!

I understand your concern.

I would like to know the cause of your planned back surgery. Is it because of a lumbar column disk displacement?

I would recommend you to consult with a neurologist and consider the possibility to start on a therapy for chronic pain like antidepressants ( amytriptiline for example) or antiepileptic drugs( like pregabaline).

Atiepileptic drugs are more effective in neuropathic pain, due to herniated discs compressing the nerve roots.

Hope to have been helpful!

Greetings! Dr. Iliri
