Suggest treatment for severe leg spasms due to restless leg syndrome

I have RLS, but it has been getting more irritating lately - like jerking leg movements have bemuse more intense and also happen in my arms and other parts of my body. This is much more pronounced at night while sitting in a chair but mostly after going to bed.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Restless Leg Syndrome cause significant loss of sleep and results in day time drowsiness and fatigue. If the symptoms are very distressing then please consult a doctor for proper treatment. Medicines like Gabapentin, Pregabalin etc are sometimes used in RLS and show considerable improvement. Some medicines like Benzodiazepines also help in sleep. In severe cases dopaminergic agents like Ropinirol, Pramipaxol etc are used. These drugs help to reduce the sudden jerky movements in night and result in improvement. Apart from this Vitamin B12, iron and Vitamin E supplements also potentiate the actions of the drugs.

Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care.
