Suggest Treatment For Severe Jaws Pain

I am being checked for possible Tia in eye. My retna specialist also did a blood test for giant cell artery something in the temple. I forgot to tell them that nights before a episode of partial temporary blindness in one Eye I also had major lower jaw pain for a few moments. Could this be a symptom of an eye Tia or the giant cell inflammation they are looking At?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Severe jaw pain when diagnosed with Giant Cell Arteritis is due to GCA only as it has a common symptom of causing Jaw Claudication [jaw pain while chewing]..

If the pain is in the form of small bouts of electric shock like pain then it can be due to inflammation of the trigeminal nerve that is nerve of face..

So my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination should be done followed by MRI Scan for confirmation..
If it is nerve related pain then neurotic painkillers like Carbamazipine or Gabapantin can be advised..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
