Suggest Treatment For Severe Itchy Rashes On The Scalp And Thighs
I have a skin rash that is affecting by body from the scalp down to my upper thighs. It s red, bumpy and extremely itchy. Dermatologist thinks it s contact dermatitis. Put me on Fluocinocide. I had an allergic reaction to this (shortness of breath). Derm dr then put me on topical steroid cream. Not working. She then put me on prednisone. I ve had two doses of the prednisone and no improvement. In fact the itching at night time has become so intense, I lose sleep. I suspected scabies, but both my regular dr and my dermatologist disagree. Please help me. I m going crazy itching.
Hi. As per your case-history we need to rule out scabies or contact dermatitis. If it is scabies- 1. Itching will be more at night. 2. Skin kesions will be more at web of fingers, axilla. around umbilicus and genitals. 3. Other family members may be also having similar complains.
If it is contact dermatitis-. 1. It itches whole day. 2. History of some contact to new allergen in past 10-15days. 3. Skin lesions are solid or fluid-filled and may be generalized.
As topical steroid is not working its worth atry to apply permethrin5% lotion once a week at night from neck to toe. It be will be fine if its scabies.
