Suggest Treatment For Severe Hip Pain

my mom is 79 years old and fell on her butt 11 days ago. She has been in bed and is feeling better but still cannot sit up longer than 5 min. Her sides of her back really hurt and also her sides of her abdomin. She can walk with the walker to go to the bathroom. She doesn't want to go to the doctor because she can't ride in the car and because she is very stubborn. I want to call an ambulance to come and get her and she begs me not to. Please help!

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
At this age even trivial fall can lead to fracture due to osteoporosis. She should be taken to emergency and examined thoroughly. I would advise 1.Xray of lumbosacral spine anteroposterior and lateral views 2. Xray of pelvis with both the hips to rule out hip and spine fracture. Visit radiology center nearby you and get it done. Please take help from expert counsellor and get herself counselled properly. Tell her that risk of morbidity from fracture at this age is higher and she needs proper treatment. She will definitely agree. Now a days portable Xray machines are available. So call for the one and do Xray at home. If it shows fracture need to take expert orthopaedic surgeon's opinion. All the best.
