Suggest Treatment For Severe Headache And Heartburn

I know that I have a severe soy allergy. Last night, several hours after eating at a friend s house, I went to bed and had what felt like a severe onset of heartburn. Unable to sleep, I got up, and it got much worse - I had a severe headache, pain in my chest, my throat felt very tight, my jaw was aching. Allergy medicine did not help, nor did antacids. I wonder if that was some form of anaphalaxis (sp)? I had a similar attack (much less severe a couple of weeks ago). Just wonder what I should do if that happens again.

Hi,

Yes, the dose of the allergen might have been more and thus you might have needed oral or injectable steroids too.
The remedy:
Prevention is better than cure.
Hence you have to strictly watch for anything that may contain Soy and never take these.
Also find out any other foods and beverages that cause similar problems and stop these altogether.
Always rush to ER when such things happen. Have oral steroid with you always.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon
