Suggest Treatment For Severe Headache After Hitting The Head
my wife banged her left temple during a rollercoaster ride earlier today and now, 8 hours later, she has a really bad headache just over her left eye. No dizziness or nausia, but the worst headache she can remember. I ve applied ice and she took an Aleve, but would like to know if we need to be more worried. She is a very recent cancer survivor who went through 10 months of chemo that ended no more than 9 months ago.
If a significant bruise or discolouration of skin develops where she was struck or if the eye movement on the affected side becomes compromised or the eyeball itself appears bulging in any way then, she should get an immediate imaging study (MRI preferably) of the head to make sure there is no orbital wall fracture.
These can be small and easy to miss. Otherwise, if everything else remains stable as you say without vegetative symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, vertigo, etc.
Then, just follow with hydration, rest, and ice-packs over the left temple.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
