Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So I ve never had an issue with my hair coming out, but just about a week ago a big clump of my hair came out after showering. The next day 2 more clumps came out and ever since I ve been getting more and more bald spots on my head. Do you know what this could be or when the hair falling out will stop?
Common causes of hair fall include androgenic androgenic alopecia, fungal infection, nutritional deficiency, alopecia areata , and cancer chemo/radiotherapy. Treatment depends upon the cause, but the most common cause in young male is androgenic alopecia Minoxidil promotes hair growth in some but you need to apply it for long time to see effect. Other mentioned causes are treatable but need correct diagnosis and treatment by specialist. Advice 1. Consult a dermatologist of your area so that he/she can rule out other causes 2. You can use minoxidil gel 5% (Tugain gel) – 1 mL twice daily for 4 months 3. High protein and vitamin rich diet such as eggs, meat, vegetables, cheese etc. 4. Do not take much tension as anxiety/depression aggravates hair loss 5. You can take Revital capsule once daily temporarily to correct any nutritional deficiency 6. Hair transplantation/hair wig is also an option for you Thanks
