Suggest Treatment For Severe Depression

my son 17 years is on nexito 10mg, and was feeling good for the last 2 months, hence taper off started to 5 mg...per day...but after 13 days ...he was again feeling low...talks about suicide...Hence again 10 mg started withing 5 days he is ok and now good after 15 days on 10 mg. Pls explain this symptom. How can we taper off gradually, how can we take care of his feeling low when medicine is reduced, otherwise than by increasing medicine. Should we not worry about his low feeling during tapering off. What can be the right method to taper off.?

Escitalopram/Nexito in dose of 10 mg is good therapeutic dose for depression but dose requirement is different in case of everybody which should be ideally decided by trained professional/Psychiatrist.Even the duration of 2 months is too short to treat depressive episode which again should be ideally decided by trained professional.If i had similar patient I would have evaluated his symptoms and accordingly have started the dose and would have atleast continued for 6 to 8 months before tapering and stopping .Hope I have solved your query.In case you have further query please dont hesitate to ask.
