Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my son turned one last week and for while now has had a cough in the morning right after he finishes his bottle. he will cough on and off during the day but the worst is first thing in the morning. He had a check up yesterday and the doctor listened to his chest and said everything was fine. should i be worried
I appreciate your concern for your son. Since his chest is clear and he develops cough finishing his bottle, in such a case his cough might be related to tracheaopharyngeal irritation due to spillage of milk in upper respiratory tract. Take due care while giving him feed.
Another possibility is upper respiratory tract infection or inflammation which can be viral, bacterial or allergic. In my opinion you should give him feed in propped up position, not in lying position. Give him a teaspoonful of honey whenever he develops cough which will soothe his throat. If it continues, cough suppressant is advisable for 3 to 5 days.
Hope this answers your question, please feel free to ask for follow up question I will be happy to help you.
Best wishes, Dr. B R Hudda
