Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a very bad cough/cold seven months ago, I have been short of breath. I have seen GP requested chest X-ray, which showed something prescribed a week of antibiotics, repeat X-ray 5 weeks later. Radiologist says there is no clinical improvement. I have also experienced back pain. I also suffer from Parkinson s . Should I be concerned?
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Persistent cough and back pain is a cause for concern. No improvement on antibiotics may mean the germ in cause is not sensitive to the drug.Possible causes of persistent cough are lung pathologies like lungs TB, tumors, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases or just an evolution of Parkinson's disease or its drugs. I will suggest you get a sputum exam, a chest/andominal CT scan, and a spirometry/peak flow test. From the results you may be better managed. You will need to see a Pneumologist as well for better evaluation and management. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
