Suggest Treatment For Severe Coccyx Pain

My colorectal surgeon says I have 2 problems that require a colostomy bag (permanent one). Per 3 doctors, usually people only have one of the problems but I have both. Today, suddenly, I have severe pain at tailbone. I m treating w hydrocodone & heating pad until tomorrow. What can cause this horrible pain at top of butt crack, for a less adequate word. Pain is deep inside & excruciating.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a tailbone pain. I see that you are already taking painkillers to relieve the pain.

An injection of a local anaesthetic into the tailbone can relieve pain for a few weeks. You should consult your doctor about this treatment. I also recommend physical therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
