Suggest Treatment For Severe Anxiety

Hi... I am trying to research/identify an anti-anxiety oral med that has little or no side effects, including acting as an appetite stimulant. Weight gain from water retention etc...is a side effect of some meds, slower metabolism maybe, however, my partner was prescribed 2mg of Abilify and his appetite was 24 hours, nonstop, like a compulsion. Eating a whole loaf of bread, 1lb of deli meat, a whole block of cheese and this was all in addition to regular meals. We stopped the Abilify to assess if it was something that was truly necessary and since early June, he has lost 17 lbs. I have noticed more of a level to his anxiousness, and fear, and I do believe the Abilify was keeping that at bay, though it was not a magic bullet per se, just taking the edge off. I cannot risk his weight gain, for other health reasons, but definitely need another med to explore. Any thoughts? Thanks! Erica

Hello,

Almost all anti-anxiety medicines do have side effects. In fact, every medicine does have a side effect. You should not worry about taking medicines because doctors prescribe medicine only when it is essential.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
