Suggest Treatment For Severe Anxiety And Difficulty In Sleeping

I get slight shaking of hand while writing specially signing any document. I have slight anxiety at times difficulty in sleep. Presently I am taking half Valium 5mg at night. Will it help if I take qutan 25 mg (half tablet) also at night? I am 81years old, have prostrate problem for this I am having Urimax D, also taking Telma20mg for slight hypertension. Please advise.

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

There is an association of lower life expectancy with taking sedatives. This is likely to be worse with a long-acting one like valium. There are an awful lot of sleep medicines that are NOT associated with falls, confusion, and death. I am assuming there is NOT an addiction issue (one a day, lowest dose, no previous addiction issues, etc = Low Risk).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
