Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Cramps And Diarrhea

My sister had a sudden cramping of her right hand, very painful, and it was curled and immobile for about 20 minutes. She tried warming it up and eventually it got better. But then the left hand did the same. Again 20 minutes. She was dizzy a couple of hours before this. The hands have never happened before. She has been having diarrhea all day, so maybe she was dehydrated. What do you think is wrong?

Hi,

As I'm unable to examine directly, thus it [diarrhea] could be due to some viral/bacterial or parasitic infection and although symptoms have stopped even then you need to see your primary care doctor who might manage her symptomatically but may refer you to consult a Pathologist or an infectious disease specialist to know about the cause behind the pathology,
Till then:
- Wash hands properly [before eating, after using the washroom and after handling pets/waste].
- Drink boiled water and properly cooked vegetables [avoid raw/undercooked food and tap water].
- Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consumption.
- Add probiotic food [curd, sourdough bread] which will help maintain proper digestive function].
- Take plenty of water, liquids, orolyte, black tea, overripe bananas, coconut water. As loose motions decrease, take soft diet, soft rice, bread, toast, cornflakes, dry fruits, salads.
- Avoid aerated drinks, milk, chillies, deep fried foods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Munish Sood,
