Suggest Treatment For Scoliosis In Elderly Females

I am 67 years old female, I had bone density test and report shows I have osteoporosis on my right hip and slight scoliosis on my back, I lost 2 inches of my height. I had MRI in 2015 of my spine, at that time I don’t have scoliosis. I want to know what cause the scoliosis? What can I do to prevent scoliosis?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The causes for scoliosis are still unknown, in a number of people there is a hereditary factor, muscular conditions also may play a role.

To prevent the condition from becoming worse correct body posture and exercise to strengthen the muscles that support the vertebral column.

Hope you found the answer helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
