Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother is schizophrenia for the past 25 years. In between she was better but at the present time she is not at all well. She does take her medicines regularly and does not want to go to visit a doctor. She thinks that she is well and does not need to visit a doctor. She will not get out of the house. To get a check up she needs to visit a doctor, which is not at all possible at this moment. The medications that she is taking is also not working for her.
Can u please suggest what can be done in this regard.
I think, this is the case of poor compliance with drugs and in her case, she needs long acting injection of antipsychotic. That would help to maintain dose of antipsychotic in her blood and gradually she would improve. You can discuss with your psychiatrist about injection. In case, you need further help, you can ask.
Thanks
