Suggest Treatment For Scabies

I live in Ridgecrest CA and been suffering from mites (possibly scabies) for about 2 years now. Unfortunately my family members which I live with don t believe me. How do I rid this problem without everyone being treated? Also what treatment is the safest and most effective (I have a 6 yr old)?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for posting your question to HCM.

First of all I would suggest to you confirm the diagnoses you are thinking you have, by making a visit to a dermatologist. I say that, because if it was scabies, it would have infected all your family, and the lesions are typical to the scabies, so it will be visible and your family would believe you.

Also, If I was your caring doctor, and I decide the most possible diagnoses as scabies, I would recommend to use topical permethrin 5%, apply thin layer to ALL skin surfaces from neck to toes for 8-14 hours being careful to avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. If its not cleared in 3 days, it may need to be repeated again.

Every medicine has its side effects, so seriously consider getting it checked with a doctor, or upload any picture to our system so I see if those lessions are really scabies or something else. And I repeat, your family will need treatment as well if that is the case.

Hope this helps,
Let me know if you have other questions.
Take care.
