Suggest Treatment For Ruptured Eardrum

I have a ruptured eardrum and I have ear drops for it but I was wondering is there a way to heal it faster? I run track so I want to heal it faster. Also I feel like there is air coming out of my other ear but sometimes it feels like something in my ear is throbbing.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome,

There will be many such sensations, the throbbing is because of the rupture and an attempt by your body to promote healing. The ear drops are mandatory and I would advise you to let them take their time to promote complete recovery and healing and not push it. A ruptured ear drum is no minor issue and you really need to be more careful.

There is a pressure gradient maintained by the two ear drums and with one ruptured you will feel air gushing and all such sensations due to an imbalance in that pressure. Nothing to worry about, let the course of treatment go about itself and allow it time to heal.

best wishes
