Suggest Treatment For Runny Nose, Coughing And Scratchy Throat During Pregnancy

im 8 months pregnant. ive had extreme green thick mucus, stuff, runny nose for over 1 week. I ve been trying to let it go away without taking any medication. I lost my voice completely last week and it s just coming back but still in and out due to coughing, scratching my throat and losing it again. Can I take Sudafed mucus relief? What do you recommend?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi dear,
Using drugs during pregnancy is like a double edged sword, most of the times it's because you're dealing with 2 lives at a time. I would warn you that you refrain yourself completely from self medication. It's always better to take advice in such matters of your consulting, coz that person will have a better understanding of your current status. given the details you gave, I would recommend Benilyn Expectorant since it is alcohol free and safe in pregnancy. Hope you'll have safe delivery.
