Suggest Treatment For Runners Knee Causing Painful Knee And Heel

Hi. I hurt my knee about 3 months playing football. It was said to be knee to knee contact. I went to my doctor and they dignosed me with runners knee. But recently i havent been able to work out or make sudden movements with my legs as they hurt upon moving. I have noticed that i cant walk on the heel of my foot because it makes the pain even worse. I have also developed a lump on the side of my knee as this is also causing more pain. What is happening?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
Athletes are prone to internal knee injuries with meniscus and ligaments tear. Since pain is for months and not relieved with usual measures I would advise MRI of knee joint to rule out meniscus and ligament tear. Wear knee cap for a week and avoid sports activities tiil mri report is done. This will provide rest to knee and helps in repairing ligaments. Take tab ibuprofen 400mg thrice a day for pain relief. If report comes and normal take and normal visit to expert sports medicine specialist.
