Suggest Treatment For Right Abdominal Pain

I have a question. At the moment my relative is in the Hospital with some serious condition. Her platelet count yesterday was 84 and her SGPT was 472. She started taking Ripes meds for TB (she has an inactive TB, sputom result is negative but the doctor ordered to intake Ripes meds). After a month, she started feeling ill and has right abdominal pain. No result yet in the hospital, she ll have an ultrasound today. So what could be the reason for her illness, is it the TB meds or something else? She s in pain and keep having chills everyday. Hoping someone can give me some details about it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The presence of chills implies that an infection is present, infections (commonly viral infections) can cause a decrease in platelet levels.

The structures on the right side of the abdomen are the liver, gallbladder, intestines, appendix. The ultrasound would determine if there is any structural change to any of these organs.

Infection of the liver, hepatitis, can be viral and cause some of the changes mentioned.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
