I have a 9mth old nephew with possibly both retinas detached due to trauma (abuse). The eye dr. is suggesting surgery. Can you tell me what kind of surgery they are talking about? I have read up on three different surgeries and seems the prognosis is limited and post care is difficult on 2 out of 3.
considering age and cause the prognosis is bad. one procedure is vasectomy with laser application and replacement of vitreous. other one is scleral buckling. retina surgeon is to decide the procedure after assessment. other wise the child has lost vision, hence to try in one eye first.
