Suggest Treatment For Reoccuring Cough,cold And Nasal Congestion

Dear Doctor, Last 3 months I have had cough cold fever and flu like symptoms for 4-5 days duration each time. My family GP has prescribed antibiotics (Fynal 500) and antipyretic (Febrex Plus) and the fever has gone after each episode. However, the cough and nasal congestion has persisted although a little lower. I am 46 year old, non-smoker, non-drinker, with no other co-morbities like diabeties, blood pressure or any such thing. I had even started exercising on the treadmill to build-up my immune system. Problem is that each time I have had to take 2-3 days leave from office to get well. I am worried about the frequent occurrence and request your advice on the following: Conclusive Screening tests to find out the exact cause, how to find the flaw in my immune system and medicinal or lifestyle changes required to overcome this situation.

Hi, thanks for your query.
In my opinion, you might be having allergy of the respiratory tract with secondary bacterial infection. It starts with allergic cold and cough and proceeds as infection. Treatment would be antibiotics with antihistamines.
Routine blood work, LFT, RFT ,sputum analysis, chest X ray. AEC. PBS. Spirometry test to know lung function, all these are usually done in such cases.
Good physical activity, regular exercise, good nutritious food, yoga, pranayama and immune booster medicines like multivitamin supplement can help you better.
