hello maggie.thanks for writing to HCM.
i read your query and understand your concerns.
first of all let me tell you 5mm is a small size for
gall stones.since you are not willing for surgery or such
invasive procedures, there are some ways to work around it
i would recommend trying ursodiol or chenodiol which are available as tablets and can dissolve some kind of gall stones(majorly
cholestrol bile stones).keep in mind, these drugs are costly.
Usually for small gall stones we recommend a wait and watch and then proceed policy
another modality of treatment is extracorporeal shock-wave
lithotripsy (ESWL). It is most effective on solitary gallstones that are less than 2 centimeters in diameter.since you have multiple stones these wouldnot be much effective
yet another way is injecting a solvent known as methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) into the
gallbladder to dissolve the gallstones. but this has resulted in some developing severe burning sensation.
then the obvious surgical option is
cholecystectomy .
I have laid down the basic option we would recommend to our patients based on their clinical profile
And for your gastric problem, have small meals at regular intervals with reduced fat and oil and take
omeprazole tablet twice daily for a week before food
Hope this helps and please do ask if you have further doubts.good day
