I also have been squeezing the site while soaking and after. A liquid is coming out of it. Am I doing the right thing. What could it be....its red around the nail bed. THanks
Hello, I had gone through your query and understand your concern.
Short answer: Seems to be paronychia, soaking will help.
Detailed answer: Thanks for asking on HCM.
You seem to be having paronychia of your toe which is infection of the soft tissue around nail bed. If the infection is acute means there is no swelling and pus collection then soaking in hot water will help. If there is collection of pus then it needs to be drained surgically.
My suggestion is continue soaking in hot water for 3 to 4 days. Usually it will resolve. If problem persists even after this then its better to consult a doctor for further evaluation and treatment.
Hope this helps.
If you have any other queries, feel free to ask.
Regards, Dr. Prathap Kumar.
