Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I woke up with a spot on the back of the neck (left side). It is round, red, and very tender. I can t let anything rub against my neck. At first I thought it was a spider bite but it wasn t any better in three days so I went to the medical clinic. I didn t have much faith in the young doctor there. He didn t act like he knew what he was doing. He was hesitant. Finally he said it was cellulitis and prescribed an antibiotic. I m leaving for vacation next week and this is very uncomfortable. Should I seek another opinion?
The tenderness itself indicates possible inflammation underlying from some sort of bacterial or other infection. There are basic needs to tackle the condition with: - Local area antiseptic care - Application of polymycin or neomycin cream - Antibiotics to resolve the infection and prevent further spread of existing infection - Adjuvant therapy with anti-inflammatory medicines as diclofenac or else - Proteolytic enzymes as bedanzen forte or other help to dissolve the unhealthy tissue material
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
