Suggest Treatment For Recurring Athlete S Foot

I suffer from very severe, recurring athlete s foot. Last Friday I was prescribed with Flucloxacilin as well as a Canesten cream which festures a strain of steroid, but my foot has only gotten worse. New, pus-filled blisters are popping up everywhere on my foot (this is the worst it s ever been) and they are making it extremely painful for me to walk. They re affecting my quality of life and my sleep and it happens so often now that it s really starting to affect me. I told the Doctor on Friday that the cream doesn t work, but she gave it to me anyway. I applied it as directed because I assumed she knew best, but the infection has only gotten worse and worse. My foot itches terribly and it feels hot all the time, and throbs. The infection smells bad too even though I m taking extra care to wash my feet thoroughly, and it s really embarassing because I live with other people. I take my shoes and socks off as often as I can so that air can get at my foot, and sleep with my foot out from under the covers so that it stays exposed to air but nothing is making it more comfortable. It s really starting to upset me.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It may be helpful to use an antifungal powder rather than a cream to keep the area dry.
Eg are miconazole powder, zeasorb

Potassium permanganate diluted soaks may also be helpful as well used once or twice a day.
An oral antifungal may also need to be added.

The oral antibiotic should be continued but if there is no obvious change after a few days then should see your doctor.

There should be some slight improvement even though it can take weeks for a fungal infection to improve.

I hope this helps
