Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Vomiting And Diarrhea

My 87 year old Mom started throwing up during the night, and then having the runs, she can t seem to keep anything down. Only a few sips of water here and there. I gave her a protein drink a bit ago and she threw it all up, and had a huge runny accident in her pants and all over. I can t find my thermometer, but she doesn t feel very warm to the touch. When would I be concerned enough to take her to the Doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that she might be having severe gastro-enteritis giving profuse vomiting and diarrhea.
This is more likely that she might be having dehydration and might require IV infusion and injectable anti-emetics and antibiotics.
Having dehydration at this age is always a problem.
Take her to ER and get examined.
Ok and take care.
