General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

Thanks for your question. I do understand your pain and discomfort. I have seen many cases with similar complaints. Please find my advice below:

1. Do a RADT (rapid antigen detection test)
2. Azithromycin with short term Prednisone

Tonsillectomy is indicated for recurrent throat infection of at least seven episodes in the past year with temperature above 38.3°C, cervical adenopathy, tonsillar exudate, and/or positive test for Group A β-hemolytic streptococcus (GABHS).

I hope I was able to address your query. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me.

Wishing you all the best.

Thanks,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
