Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Eye Allergy In An Elderly
I have had eye allergies for over 10 years. Each year they keep getting worse. I ve used many steroids, both drops and ointments on and off during this time. Can I use these for the rest of my life without complications? I m 72 years old. Thank you for your advice.
If you have not already done them, you should consider a comprehensive panel of allergy tests.
Allergy testing would determine the exact allergen or allergens that are causing the problem so that you can reduce your exposure.
The steroids can be used intermittently but should generally be avoided for prolonged periods because of the risk of side effects that can occur. Antihistamine or other allergy drops such as pataday, would be safer to use consistently.
I hope this helps
