Suggest treatment for rectal prolapse

I am not sure. I had a second Proctopexy for rectal prolapse in 2012 and the surgeon removed 5cm of my small bowel and colon resection of 20cm and proximal colon donut segment & distal donut segment. I just do not know whythose 4 things were removed and if they are the cause of my problem today of course the second surgery failed and I am not sure if something that was resected was supposed to be or not because every time I ask my DR. a question he shruggs his shoulders up and makes a stupid look like Duh I don t know. And tomorrow I have an appointment with with all my surgical reports with everything hihglited that is not true and I am telling him that is it speak up now or see you in court because I have suffered long enough And I dont think my problem has a fix or cure. And I sure the hell do not want him to open my stomach again and Im sorry he ever did Thank You Gina

Oncologist 's  Response
Hi,

Although no medical treatment is available for rectal prolapse, internal prolapse should always be first treated medically with bulking agents, stool softeners, and suppositories or enemas. Biofeedback may be helpful if paradoxical pelvic floor contraction also exists.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Monish De, Oncologist
