Suggest Treatment For Rashes On The Chest While On Prednisone

I had a severe allergic reaction to Aleve and was given a benadryl and cortisone shot at the Urgent care center and was prescribed prednisone for 10 days. On the fifth day after taking the prednisone, I developed a rash on my chest. Could this be a die effect of the prednisone? How should I treat it?

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of rashes on the chest while on Prednisone which can occur due to bodies response to the trigger factor which could be due to an allergic reaction.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you give cold compresses to rashes several times a day to prevent from swelling and itching and take over the counter antihistamine drug like Benadryl. If symptoms still persist the consulting dermatologist for proper examination and treatment. The doctor may perform a skin test to find out the trigger factor and may prescribe steroid cream ointment along with anti-inflammatory drugs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
