My 21 year old daughter has a problem where her heart starts beating really fast and hurts. It will get so bad she passes out. This also happens while she is sleeping and wakes her up. She will begin shaking really bad also. Any idea what this might be or if it is serious?

1. Going by your history the problem seems to be of cardiovascular in origin:

PS. since heart rate is rapid thus Stokes- Adam attacks (SA attacks with bradycardia) can be excluded)

2. Heart rate is rapid: PALPITATION either due to arrhythmiac or PSVT and Pheochromocytoma

3. Ib both the conditions clinical examination with Cardiologist is essential for further line of management

4. Avoid excess of tea & coffee
