Suggest Treatment For Rapid Heart Rate And Heartburn

My husband is 55. Recently been having rapid heart rate, exhaustion and bad heartburn /reflux. He is beginning to get very concerned and works himself up even more wondering if it could be a heart issue. He won t admit it but sometimes seems to have a little confusion going on as well. Any advice you can offer would be much appreciated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Heartburn can be treated by lifestyle change and medication. The lifestyle changes include:(1)smaller more frequent meals instead of large meals

(2)avoiding spicy/acidic/fried foods

(3)avoid tomatoes, caffeine, onions, mint, chocolate

(4)wait 2 hours after eating before laying down

(5)weight loss of any excess weight

IF it is very painful , it may contribute to the heart rate but this should still be checked by his doctor.

Blood tests (full blood count, thyroid function tests) and an ECG would be needed to check the increased pulse to find out the cause.

I hope this helps
