Suggest Treatment For Pus Filled Swollen Lips After Injury
my daughter hit her lip a few days ago with a bat. since then, it's been swollen and has pus in it. every day, the pus hardens and falls off but forms again. the last two days, she's having pain with it. we're treating with vaseline and a warm compress. Also, tylenol and advil (alternating). anything else we can do?
Thanks for your query .This usually happens after lip injury .When lip get injured there is cut in lip and bacteria travel into the cut through saliva while licking and picking which is natural tendency of human when experience irritation on lip ,these bacteria in saliva make lip infected and form pus inside.
I would suggest you to apply tea tree oil mixed with equal amount of coconut oil this will act as a antiseptic as well as anti inflammatory. You can also apply turmeric paste for the same purpose. For pain use medicines which you are already using .Ask her to not to lick or pick her lips.
If condition doesn't improve in 2 days or get worse consult dermatologist .Doctor may prescribe you antibacterial medication and drain pus .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
