A week ago I developed what I thought was two bug bites in a line. I almost thought it could be a poison oak or ivy. I used anti-itch cream the aveno brand and it seemed to help. The bumps left but the redness stayed but was getting better. Last night I put makeup on it to cover it up and woke up this morning to it being a dark color almost a purple. It looks horrible and I developed little rashes under and around the two very dark lines. There are no raised bumps but the skin is dark in color and does not itch.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history, you are having insect bite dermatitis. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like Fusiderm-B cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harshit Bhachech
