Suggest treatment for pruritus on the scalp

I have pruritus, and wonder if my granddaughter can catch it from touching me. I am going insane with itching. All my dermatologist says is use Sarna cream, and she gave me a solution for my scalp. My scalp is the worse place that I itch. she checked everything, but I feel hopeless.

Hello,

If you have severe itching and nothing was found by your dermatologist, then should consult further with a neurologist to rule out neurological pruritus.

Plus, get a stool examination for ova/parasites done to rule out intestinal parasites. Sometimes, they can cause this itchiness.

Next, if your skin is flaky, extremely dry then, should rule out psoriasis. Keeping the skin well hydrated can be of help.

Try to follow your dermatologist advice first, if no improvement, then, go for the other tests as advised above.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
