Suggest Treatment For Protruding Stomach

Hello, I am a 68 year old black male who has noticed my stomach protruding in the last several months. I am diabetic with my A1C 7.5. My doctor prescribed Glucotrol 10mgx2, Metformin 750mgx2, Januvia 100mgx1 daily. I have been diagnoses with DVT and take Warfarin 7.5mg daily. I am concerned because I have never had protruding mid-section.

Hello. Good day. Thanks for writing to HCM. I am Dr Sarika and I will be answering your query today.
Truncal obesity (proturuding mid section) occurs due to routine weight gain. Some people have a tendency to deposit more fat around the abdomen. Some do around the hip. In your case its the abdomen. Your glucose levels seem fine. Glucotrol increases your weight. It would be a good idea to discuss that with your doctor and change that drug into something else from another class. Meanwhile, you can start doing exercises focussed at the abdomen. Swimming is a good choice too.
Wishing you good health.
Warm regards.
