Suggest Treatment For Prostrate Hardening

Following prostate radiation 13 years ago my prostate has gradually hardened and now made it difficult to urinate. last Friday my urologist was unable to insert a catheter due possibly to the hardening of the prostate or bladder neck He then inserted a suprapubic catheter and advised me to come into his office Wed. to try again to insert the urethel catheter . Is this reasonable and if it doesn t work what is the next step?

Urologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, let me assure you, the Urologist has followed a routine step.
But, i would wait more than 2-4 weeks, before attempting, another catheterisation.
It's not the hardening of prostate, that causes your difficulting in passing urine, but , narrowing of urinary tube in region of prostate, or bladder neck.
You must check your PSA, creatinine, sugar, urine culture and get an ultrasound abdomen, before the attempt to pass a catheter.
