Suggest Treatment For Prolonged Loose Motions

I am suffering from loose motions for the last 6 months. No medicines working too effectively. Have been taking Librax for the last 3 months, I am sometimes ok and sometimes it gets constipated and after 4, 5 days again loose stool starts. I have lost 6 - 7 kgs of weight in the last 3 months without any effort. But I have normal apetite. I feel hungry at the correct time

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Loose motions alternating with constipation for the last 6 months and on being on Librax for the last 3 months needs to be investigated fully as cancer of the colon has to be ruled out.
Other than cancer the causes can be IBS, intolerance to some foods or beverages and so on.
I would strongly advise you the following in such a situation:
Colonoscopy and biopsy to be done as early as possible.
Tests of stool for three consecutive days.
Tests of blood particularly for thyroid, liver and kidney functions as Hyperthyroidism can cause such problems.
CT scan of the whole abdomen.
If there is cancer of colon you will need further management under the guidance of Oncosurgeon and Oncologist.
If all the tests are normal the obvious diagnosis is IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome and thus needs adjustment of the dosages of Librax, avoidance of stress and anxiety the main cause and avoidance of the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems.
If there is any chance of infection, a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole and long term probiotics may help.
