Suggest Treatment For Polycystic Ovarian Disease

Hi Doctor, how are you? I’m 33 years old and trying to get pregnant for the past 5 years. I have a daughter she is 8 years old now. My diagnosis is polycystic ovarian disease (pcod). I went to doctor three months ago he gave me clomid 200 mg and duphaston. I’m taking clomid from day 5 of periods for 5 days and duphaston 10mg from day 16 for 10 days for the past 3 months, is this effective? How long should I take duphaston and clomid? I took my last clomid dose on 14th march. Till now I did not have my periods and my pregnancy test is negative. I really wanted to get pregnant. Would you please help me? Thanks & Regards  from Mongolia

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Firstly, let me tell you that PCOD is a condition which gives good response to appropriate treatment. So, do not lose heart. The induction of ovulation with Clomiphene is usually tried for a course of six months. Stepped up doses are given until ovulation is induced. Regular monitoring is done clinically and through sonograms to detect ovarian hyperstimulation and to time the intercourse while ovulation occurs. As you already have a child, tubal patency tests also are significant before induction. If you ovulate with the prescribed dose as evidenced by follicular studies and basal body temperature recording, regular sexual intercourse must be done during the period at least on alternate days. This gives you good result. Maintain a healthy diet, regular exercise and a healthy weight. Hope this information is helpful. Take care.
