Suggest Treatment For Pneumonia And Sepsis While On Mupirocin
I have two sores in my nose that will not heal. I was ill with pneumonia and sepsis and have been on oxygen. My doctor has me using mupirocin three times daily in my nose buy the sores just crust up and bleed when I put the ointment on. I am also taking cumedin. Would the sores be from the oxygen?
Welcome and thanks for your query. You were given oxygen when you had pneumonia because your blood oxygen saturation would have fallen below the recommended level. Oxygen does not cause sores on your nose. If you were given oxygen through nasal cannula, the pressure from the same may. Cumedin is an anticoagulant and can lead to bleeding with minor trauma and this is likely to be the cause of bleeding when you touch the wound. Do get back to me if you have further query
