Suggest Treatment For Plantar Fasciitis

My mother has plantar fasciitis. She has had this for the past month and she is in severe pain, particularly after initially getting up in the morning or after a long time sitting down. She has been told to perform home stretching exercises, but these are very painful for her and she is having difficulty keeping up. What is the best way to treat this condition? Foot inserts and night brace have also been recommended.
